Claudio E. Vicenty, M.D.

Dr. Vicenty attended Universidad del Caribe in Puerto Rico where he received his medical degree in 1981. He completed an internship in general surgery at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland followed by a clinical residency in Anesthesiology at George Washington University in Washington, DC. He then completed a one-year Fellowship in Critical Care at Memoria Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida in 1985. Dr. Vicenty is a Diplomat of the American Board of Anesthesia and received a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Pain Management in 1994 and was recertified in 2004.

Dr. Vicenty was Medical Director of Memorial Pain Clinic for 10 years from 1992-2002, and was on staff as a practicing Anesthesiologist from 1985-2002.  He served as Vice Chairman for the Department of Anesthesia at Memorial Medical Center from 1996-2000. He was also appointed Chairman of Continuous Quality Improvement in the Department of Anesthesia from 1993-1996 at Memorial Medical Center. He served as the Medical Director for San Pablo Surgery Center for one year. Dr. Vicenty has been actively involved in many departments, councils and organizations at Memorial Medical Center.

Dr. Vicenty is now in private practice, specializing in interventional spine pain management at the Jacksonville Spine Center since 2002. He continues to specialize in the applications of Neuromodulation (spinal cord stimulation) and advanced implant therapies in the field of interventional pain management. While at Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Vicenty was involved in the initial studies for the use of morphine pumps for benign pain with FDA approval. He currently serves as an educational speaker and clinical instructor of implantation workshops for Medtronic, Inc. (manufacturers of spinal cord stimulators – as found in Jerry Lewis). Dr. Vicenty has active memberships in the Duval Medical Society, the North Florida Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, the International Spine Intervention Society, and the North American Neuromodulation Society. Dr. Vicenty serves as Consultant in Pain Management for the Florida Department of Health Board of Medicine, First Coast Health and Blue Cross/Blue Shield Insurance Company.

Dr. Vicenty volunteers with We Care, Inc. - a non-profit, charitable corporation that manages 12 clinics providing free care to Jacksonville's 120,000 uninsured residents.

Dr. Vicenty and his wife have two children. He is an “exercise maniac”, an avid “Jags” fan and enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
